A fresh and zippy fish to appeal to all palettes.

When I was young, fish wasn’t really my thing. I spent a lot of time at my best friend Rachel’s house — her mom, Carol, was like a second mom to me. And one day, Carol convinced me to try swordfish. I was hesitant, but one bite, and I was hooked (pun totally intended!). 🎣💕

I miss Carol with every passing day, but I like to think she’s reading over my shoulder right now, smiling that warm smile. This recipe is my way of including her in today’s blog — a dish she’d love because it’s bursting with flavor, love, and a little bit of nostalgia.

So, let’s get to the good stuff — grilled swordfish topped with a zesty, briny tapenade. It’s simple, elegant, and perfect for summer evenings or a special weekend treat. And it’s just for two — because sometimes, that’s all the love you need! ❤️

Ingredients for the marinade (for 2 steaks):

  • 2 tbsp olive oil 🫒
  • 1 tbsp honey 🍯
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce 🥢
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic 🧄
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley 🌿
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (double if using fresh!) 🌱
  • Juice of half a lemon 🍋
  • Dash of salt & a few grinds of black pepper 🧂

The Wrap:
Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl. Place your swordfish steaks in a ziplock or a shallow dish, pour the marinade over, and give it a good squish — then let it marinate for at least 1 hour (or up to 4, if you’ve got the time).

Time to grill! 🔥

Preheat your grill to about 400°F. Grill the fish for about 5 minutes per side, or until it’s flaky and opaque — picture perfection! 🌟🩵

Now, the showstopper — the tapenade!

  • ¼ cup chopped olives 🫒
  • 2 tbsp capers 🧂
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley 🌿
  • Juice of half a lemon 🍋
  • 1 tsp olive oil 🫒

Mix all these ingredients in a bowl. Set aside until you’re ready to serve — this tapenade adds that punch of briny good vibes!

The grand finale! 🎉

Once the fish is perfectly grilled, plate it up and spoon half the tapenade on each steak. The flavors explode with every bite — salty, tangy, and oh-so-delicious.

This dish may bring back memories of my dear Carol, but I know she’d be proud to see it shared and enjoyed. Here’s to good food, good memories, and good vibes.

Enjoy, friends!
