Upgrade Your Brussels Sprouts with Crispy, Sweet and Spicy Perfection

This is a killer Brussels sprouts recipe with a sweet, spicy, Asian-inspired glaze. I promise if you make this, you won’t be disappointed. The flavor of this dish explodes in your mouth and pairs nicely with a lot of dishes, including my Cedar Planked Salmon and Mongolian Beef.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 3/4 pound Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 1 tbsp oil (I used grapeseed, but olive works too)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium if you prefer)
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne (or to taste)
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts, roughly chopped
  • 2 tbsp thinly sliced scallions
  • Red pepper flakes for a little kick

Cook the Sprouts

Toss them in oil with a pinch of salt, and place cut-side down in your cast iron pan on the grill. Let them char for about 10 minutes — keep an eye on them and turn if you see good char marks.

Make the Sauce

Mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and garlic in a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium and simmer about 5 mins until thickened.

Finish

Toss those crispy Brussels in the sauce, then sprinkle with chopped peanuts, scallions, and a pinch of chili flakes for extra spice.
